Work permit success for Romanian and Bulgarian nationals

Romanian and Bulgarian parents of Irish citizen children have been granted access to the Irish labour market without the need of work permits.  The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation have now amended their work permit policy in relation to Romanian and Bulgarian nationals.  To read more about the changes click here and it is also available in FLAC News / Vol. 22, No. 1 .

MLRC are members of the Equality Right Alliance Group (ERA).  Serious concerns have been raised by the ERA regarding what is being proposed by the Dept. of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.  Following representations and submissions from the ERA, including a submission by MLRC the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation have now assured the ERA that the Equal Status function of the Equality Tribunal will not be transferred to the District Court and that all functions of the Equality Tribunal will move to the new Workplace Relations Service.  To read the submission by MLRC please click here.

Chartered Institute of Housing launches new journal “Housing Ireland: A Journal for Irish Housing Professionals”

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) launched a booklet entitled “Housing Ireland: A Journal for Irish Housing Professionals” on the 2nd May.  This is a journal for housing providers and was sponsored by the Housing Agency.
It was launched by Jan O’Sullivan T.D., Minister of State, Department of Environment, Community and Local Government with special responsibility for Housing and Planning.  For more information regarding CIH click here.
